Inspiration from our Virtual Tyke Hike Campers!

Updated: Aug 10, 2020

In these times of Covid, we all need a little inspiration.  One of our Tyke Hike campers recently provided me with just that – inspiration.

Twin 5-year-old girls in North Carolina (full disclosure, they are my cousins!) joined us for virtual Tyke Hike sessions through Camp Anywhere in July.  For an hour each day, we virtually immersed into outdoor-oriented science experiments, craft activities, movement games and story books.  We dug into fun outdoor themes each day -- seeds and pinecones, worms and compost, rainbows and flowers, leaves and trees.

During camp, their mom read to them about nature exploration and a nature explorers journal.  On the last day of camp, I received endearing photos of Millie working on her nature explorer journal with a text, "We loved camp this week! Thank you. You inspired Millie. [She] just started making a nature explorer book." I virtually thought, "Right back at ya, Millie!" It warmed my heart to see that campers and their families are taking activities and lessons from camp and making them their own, to continue to learn and benefit from outdoor exploration together.

You can bet that a Tyke Hike Nature Explorer Journal is going to be part of our next camp! And if you’d like to get a jump-start on your own journal, share your email address to receive a Tyke Hike guide on how to craft and begin using an awesome journal to document outdoor adventures!

If you and your family would like to join us for even more Tyke Hike fun at virtual camp July 27-30, click here! Open for campers 5-8 years old.
